Navel oranges

are one of the most popular and fresh fruit varieties. They may be cut off and used as a salad ingredient.

The navel oranges are the first orange kinds that produce the seedless fruit of larger size than the others. They have deep orange easily peeled rinds and a sweet and flavor. Navel orange is one from citrus family.

Navel Orange is available in winter through spring. On the other hand Navel oranges are seedless winter oranges that are available from December through March with peak in January and February.

Navel Orange is the most cultivated crop in Egypt. Other main crops are Valencia orange, Baladi, Blood, and Khalily. Navel orange and Valencia orange are the main varieties for export in Egypt which cover about 94% from the Egyptian citrus exported varieties. The other orange kinds like tangerines (Mandarin, Clementine and grapefruit) are also exported.

In November 2014, the new exportation season 2017/2018 was ready for citrus fruits in Egypt. Half of the Egyptian citrus exports are expected to Export to Saudi Arabia and Russia. The other main importers are the GCC countries, UK, and the Netherlands.

In 2013/2014 the last exportation season, the main importers for the Egyptian orange were Saudi Arabia around 250,000 tons, Russia around 238,000 tons, United Arab Emirates around 80,000 tons, Ukraine around 75,000 tons, Iraq around 70,000 tons, England around 68,000 tons, and Netherlands around 57,000 tons.
